Does anyone pay attention?

On Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the 2nd Gatehouse Media debate, Senator Dave Lawson had the unimitigated gall to say that he did not contact me (his constituent, who e-mailed him 6 times in 3 months) about the KCSPCA complaints because he was working with Carol Furr.  Now, Carol and I speak together DAILY; I think she would have told me (and I have confirmed that) if he talked to her. He also said he was working with all the Kent County Levy Court commissioners on the issue and was instrumental in recovering the fines the KCSPCA levied for dog control violations.  First, Commissioner Sweeney and I touch base about once a week.  And - this will shock those who think I only complain about the organization - the  KCSPCA NEVER held up that money - it was the DOJ, who forgot to recode the money from DNREC.   And I believe it was KCLC Administrator Mike Petit de Mange that was working on finding where the money went. Yes, I told Senator Lawson that I did not believe him on this, that he was not telling the truth.  Of course, he said he did not appreciate being called a liar. Well, if the shoe fits.....
Carol Furr posted on her FaceBook page that she was not and has not been working with Senator Lawson on any issue whatsoever.  He then called her home, stating that he had spoken to her back in March, and that he did not appreciate the two of us calling him a liar (yes, almost word for word what he said on Tuesday).
For those who have been following our work on complaints concerning the KCSPCA, you know that we keep a paper trail.  Seriously, a real, here are my notes paper trail.  And we share all the information we collect.  So - even if Carol and I - and Commissioner Sweeney - were all struck with contagious amnesia, we would have notes, and someone in the group would point out that we were becoming forgetful.
So my first question about paying attention - did Senator Lawson think I/we would just let his lie stand?  Maybe he does, because I haven't said anything every time he complains about the penalties in the Home Invasion bill that was passed in preference to his own.  He consistently reports the penalties as 4 and 6 (if a senior citizen is the victim) years; I now carry the bill with me, because the penalties are 6 and 8 years, with additional time if convicted of a similar felony within 5 years.  In addition, additional charges  may be made, with additional penalties attached.  At one of the events where he made this statement, there were other legislators there; no one corrected him.  Hello?  Is anyone listening?
EVERYONE is concerned about the economy and jobs. ALL the incumbent candidates and a lot of the challengers go on about creating jobs. YET the General Assembly was considering HB 392, which would have PUT PEOPLE OUT OF WORK and allowed for $ to RETRAIN THEM (Bill has been struck).  AND NOW the Department of Insurance is considering a 47% increase in Workers Compensation Insurance rates. Public Hearing IN WILMINGTON on November 2 @ 10 AM. (If you want more details, contact me or the Central DE Chamber of Commerce.)

(10/16/2012:  Just heard that the hearing has been changed until AFTER the elections, article in the News Journal.)

WHY? Is anyone listening to themselves? Or paying attention to this? Representative Lincoln Willis mentioned the Workers Comp increase at one informal event awhile back, I have mentioned it a couple of times now - but outside of the Central DE Chamber of Commerce, I'm not hearing much about this.   And I have to ask - how will this help the economy?
AND then we have the Essential Health Benefits and Insurance Exchange that is being developed as mandated by the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)....this is going to cost businesses money AND limit free-market competition and freedom of choice.
Hello? Anybody out there? Is anyone paying attention?
